Artist Statement
Elana Casey uses the daydream as a manifestation tool. She visualizes her wishes on substrate to act as a medium between the real and imagined. Her new avatar, through figuration and developing scenes, experiences the wanderlust and intoxication of the soon materialized.
Realistic rendering and untouched moments on her substrate hint at an unrealized life, and at the hope that a Black woman’s future could be pleasurable, luxurious, and love-filled.
